As the 2009 year winds to a close, Mark and I would like to thanks our fans, crew and sponsors for helping make this racing season one of the most memorable seasons over Mark's 25+ years racing career.

Capstones of the season included three Deery Brothers victories (in six starts), Mark winning his 100th career IMCA late model feature, a UMP Monster Midwest Series victory at Quincy Raceways (with our Spec motor), the Lee County Speedway Late Model Track Championship and respectable finishes in a handful of UMP Summernational, MLRA and World of Outlaw races.

The season also saw Mark switch to the Pierce late model chassis after driving a Rayburn chassis for several years. Needless to say it was a hit on the track as well as in the garage as the car won 4 of its first 5 races including two Deery Brothers Series events (the other race we finished second). Special thanks to Bob and Angie Pierce for building a tremendous race car. If you are interested in a Pierce late model chassis, don't hesitate to give either Bob or Angie a call at 217-354-2972 as they are great to work with and live, eat and breathe racing 24/7.

For the 2010 season, the Nelson Motorsports team looks forward to competing in ~30 open motor races with the new addition of a 418 c.i. Ford open motor being built by Jim Kuntz over the offseason as well as ~20 IMCA spec motor races with a focus on local Deery Brothers Series races, draw/redraw specials and selected weekly races at Lee County Speedway and Quincy Raceways. We have already begun to populate a tentative 2010 schedule and will add additional races to the calendar as series/tracks publish their respective schedules.

As you have likely already observed, we've also launched a new website with the assistance of Josh Holt and Zach Calmus of DriverWebsites.com. We look forward to continuing to add additional features and links throughout the offseason.
