Close Up on Mark Burgtorf
Mark began racing stock cars at the age of eighteen and has not looked back since. During his career, Mark has accomplished many feats including winning nineteen track championships, three IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series Championships (1998, 2001 and 2003), the 1998 IMCA National Late Model Championship and the 1994 NASCAR Central Region Points Championship.
Notable victories include twenty-two Deery Brothers Summer Series events (tied for third most wins for the Series) including three Pepsi USA Late Model Nationals held annually at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, IA (2000, 2006 and 2007) and the 2006 United States Modified Touring Series Fall Jamboree held annually at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN.
Over Mark’s twenty-five plus year career he has competed in 1,040 late model feature events recording an astounding 644 Top 5 finishes (62%) and 218 wins (21%). Mark is a clean racer who garners the respect of all of his competitors and fans alike as evidenced by his fifteen “Favorite Late Model Driver Award” he has earned at various Midwestern tracks.
In addition to his success in a dirt late model, Mark also has 78 career modified wins along with four track championships driving for "Goob" Gordy.
Mark lives in Quincy, IL with his wife Melissa and son Cale. Mark works in Blessing Hospitals Operation Support Group, a position he has held for more than 25 years.
